ACV Groep on the MCB 3.0: versatile, quiet and clean

When ACV Groep, the waste collector in the Ede-Wageningen-Veenendaal region, needed a new machine for sustainable weed management, they came to Empas. What they saw: "an enthusiastic team, making beautiful technology." The choice fell on the MCB 3.0, a machine that allows for clean and relatively quiet work, as well as can be used for more than just weed management. Exactly what the company had in mind. Arjan Rosseel of ACV Groep explains.

In the right place at the right time

The collaboration between ACV Groep and Empas is a typical case of being in the right place at the right time. ACV was looking for a sustainable machine for weed management. As their usual supplier was temporarily unable to supply what was needed at the time, they started looking around locally. Empas was practically around the corner. Arjan: "We went there to talk about our needs and were given a tour of the company. We saw an enthusiastic team making beautiful technology. On the production line, we saw people tinkering with tailor-made machines. And the parts were in stock, they were just ready for use."

A machine that pays its way

That operational reliability made ACV Groep happy, as Arjan puts it. The choice fell on the MCB 3.0, a hot water machine that allows sustainable weed management, but can also be used for more purposes. "We bought a hybrid version of the MCB, with an electric pump set to control weeds on pavements. As the hot water is easily adjustable, we also use it for light cleaning tasks. After all, you can clean better with hot water than with cold water."  Thus, the machine brings in double-digit returns. "Normally a machine like this is idle outside the weed season, which is roughly from October to April. So we use it during that time for cleaning work."

Quieter and therefore quieter work

The 'guys outside' are also happy with the MCB 3.0. Arjan says: "It is very important to us that they work with good tools. Kees, one of our employees who works a lot with the MCB, especially likes the fact that it is electric. It saves a lot of noise and because the operator is right next to the machine, it is much quieter to work with. We are also often in shopping streets and then it makes a difference whether you use a petrol machine or an electric one. He gets a lot of positive feedback from the environment he works in."

Technically and sustainably perfect

In addition, technology and the sustainable aspect played a major role in ACV Groep's choice. Arjan says: "Technically, it is just perfect. The machine is reliable: it is not prone to breakdowns and is easy to operate. We were also looking for a machine that is not petrol-driven. Our clients, the municipalities, consider sustainability important and have an intrinsic motivation to work in a more environmentally friendly way. For example, the municipality of Ede has switched to hot water weed control and wants to use as few mechanical means, i.e. brushing or mowing, as possible. We follow them in this."

"Reliable machine manufacturer"

In short, a good machine that does what it is supposed to do in a sustainable way, and more. "Empas is known as a reliable machine builder and it has proved that in practice," says Arjan. "Should we need a machine again in the future, we will definitely take Empas into the equation. After all, we already have a good experience with each other."
